6 Octobre 2022 – Day 3 (Mananjary)

Meeting both people and the Malagasy Jesuits was largely fulfilled on the third day of Fr. General’s visit in Madagascar. Fr. Arturo Sosa and his entourage took the plane to head to the city of Mananjary located southeast of the Big Island, a place hit hard by Cyclone Batsirai of last February. Upon arrival by plane, Fr. General was greeted by cheerful crowds wherever he went.

In the Mananjary’ s cathedral, built by Jesuit missionaries Bishop Jose de Nobregas, the local ordinary highlighted the tireless work of the Society of Jesus in giving helping hands to the pastoral in his diocese.

Fr. General and his delegation proceeded to the College of Immaculee Conception, a Jesuit- run high school which is still recovering from Batsirai. In an impromptu short speech, Fr. Sousa enjoin the 1250 cheering pupils and 75 staff and personnel gathered in the large stadium to never be discouraged in facing adversities.
